Every format, one clean Markdown output
CleanMD picks the right engine for each file on its own: native documents are parsed in your browser, scans go through OCR, media gets transcribed. Whatever the input, the output keeps the heading hierarchy, tables, lists and code blocks of the original.

Frequently asked questions
Do my files leave my browser?
Native documents (PDF with a text layer, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, CSV, HTML) are converted entirely in your browser: the file never touches our servers. Scanned PDFs and images need real OCR, and audio, video and YouTube need transcription, so those are processed server-side in the EU and deleted as soon as the Markdown is delivered. Nothing is stored on any tier.
What does “clean Markdown” mean here?
The heading hierarchy of the source (H1, H2, H3 and section order) is preserved instead of flattened, tables become GitHub-flavoured Markdown tables, lists stay lists, code stays in fenced blocks, and running headers, footers and page numbers are removed. The result is Markdown you can drop into Obsidian, Notion, a static site or a RAG pipeline without hand-editing.
What is free and what is Premium?
The free tier converts documents and images with no account: 3 conversions per day, files up to 3 MB (PDFs up to 50 MB). A single larger or scanned document can be paid once, from $3 (up to 20 pages) or $4 (up to 100 pages). Audio, video and YouTube transcription carry real per-minute costs and require the Premium subscription: $15 month-to-month, or $12 per month billed yearly.
